The reconstruction of the Casa Navàs tower is progressing as one of the most significant heritage projects in Reus. This intervention aims to recover a key element of the building’s original silhouette while introducing a contemporary perspective through a special lighting design created by Josep Poblet, known as an architect of light.
The tower was an essential part of the original project by architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner and played a central role in the architectural composition of Casa Navàs. Its reconstruction is based on thorough historical research and documentation, following strict heritage criteria to ensure full respect for the original design and its symbolic value.
A major innovation of the project is the incorporation of architectural lighting. Josep Poblet approaches light as an intangible material capable of shaping space and perception. As he explains, architecture is usually built with hard, physical materials such as concrete or steel, while light is the opposite: something that cannot be touched but has a powerful capacity to transform architecture.
The lighting of the tower is designed to enhance the building during nighttime hours, offering a new interpretation of Casa Navàs without altering its essence. Light becomes a narrative element that highlights volumes and forms, integrating the building into Reus’ urban landscape in a subtle and respectful way.
This project reflects how heritage conservation can engage with contemporary disciplines. The reconstruction of the tower is not only about restoring a lost architectural element, but also about understanding heritage as a living and evolving reality.
The completion of the reconstruction and the official inauguration of the tower are scheduled for the Sant Pere festivities in Reus in 2026, a symbolic moment that will mark a new milestone for Casa Navàs.
