Casa Navàs has generated significant media coverage due to the reconstruction of its emblematic tower. In recent weeks, various regional media outlets have dedicated reports and news features to explaining the historical, heritage and technical scope of this intervention, placing the building once again at the center of cultural attention.
One of the most notable reports was published by the newspaper Ara Camp de Tarragona on February 18, 2026. The article provides a detailed analysis of the recovery process of the tower that crowned the building until its destruction in 1938 during a bombing in the Spanish Civil War. The coverage highlights that the loss of the tower was not the result of the passage of time, but of a specific wartime episode that directly affected the upper part of the building.
The article explains that work has been underway since 2023 under the direction of the technical team responsible for the project, involving architects and several specialized artisans. Stonemasons, glassmakers, blacksmiths and structural technicians collaborate to ensure a reconstruction faithful to the original design by Lluís Domènech i Montaner, while adapting it to current technical regulations.
Media coverage has also emphasized the incorporation of an internal stainless-steel structure, a construction solution that guarantees the stability of the tower and compliance with modern safety standards without altering its exterior appearance. This balance between historical rigor and technological adaptation has been widely highlighted.
The coverage also recalls that Casa Navàs is the only modernist building in the country preserved almost exactly as it was inaugurated at the beginning of the 20th century. In 2025, it welcomed more than 54,000 visitors, reinforcing its role as a cultural and heritage landmark.
The reconstruction is scheduled to be completed in time for the Sant Pere festivities in Reus in 2026, marking a symbolic milestone in the building’s history.
