- More than 49 000 people have joined some of the scheduled visits
- The activities planned for the Domènech i Montaner’s Year attract many visitors
Casa Navàs in Reus has closed 2023 surpassing, once again, its best visitor figures since the opening of the building to the public in 2018. More than 49,000 people have opted for one of the different types of visits programmed to get to know the unique modernist work of Lluís Domènech i Montaner. In addition, this year more than 17,200 people have participated in some of the activities designed by Casa Navàs as part of the Domènech i Montaner’s Year.
More than 49,000 people have visited Casa Navàs throughout 2023 in one of the different types of visits offered, a figure that represents an increase of 10% over the nearly 44,000 visitors in 2022. This figure represents a new historical record since the modernist building by Lluís Domènech i Montaner opened its doors in the summer of 2018.
As for the origin of visitors, the Catalan public accounts for 59% of the total, 18% from the rest of Spain, and 23% from abroad. Visitors from Catalonia come mainly from Barcelona, Reus, Tarragona, and Lérida. Most of the people coming from other parts of Spain are from the Valencian Community, the Community of Madrid, and the Basque Country; while, of the international public, about half come from France and the rest, above all, from Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Belgium.
When asked why they visited the Casa Navàs, the public 35% said it was for cultural interest, 18% said it was thanks to a recommendation, 16% said it was a visit they had pending, and 12% explained that they had visited because they have been informed at Reus Tourist Office. Social networks, the media, or simply because they were walking around the city are other reasons that led the public to enter the Navàs House.
Casa Navàs in Reus has once again surpassed its record number of visitors
Apart from the number of visitors, about 17,200 people have participated in some of the activities designed throughout 2023 on the occasion of the celebration of the Year Domènech i Montaner. It should be noted that 10,000 of these people were already part of the “Reus 1900. Festa modernista”, held on April 15 and 16, in conjunction with the Reus Promoció Agency.
Therefore, the activities that have been carried out in the same Casa Navàs have attracted about 7,200 people. Among the initiatives programmed during the first semester, apart from the aforementioned modernist festival, the collective photographic exhibition “Mirant la Casa Navàs”, the creation of a new dramatized visit led by Domènech i Montaner, the 2nd Casa Navàs fast painting contest, and the school exhibition “Fes la teva casa modernista” were carried out.
Between July and December, for the Domènech i Montaner’s Year, the dance show “Exhale Casa Navàs” by Anna Borràs and Daniel Navarro, the 3rd Cycle of conferences “Casa Navàs, testimonis modernistes”, the exhibition “Domènech i Montaner, patrimoni mundial” of the Centre d’Estudis Lluís Domènech i Montaner and the visit-conference “L’heràldica modernista” have been programmed. On the other hand, the surprise event that was to mark the end of the celebration in December has been postponed for a few weeks because some details are still being finalized. Soon will be revealed the date of the call where this final surprise will be announced.
Casa Navàs is very satisfied with the results obtained in a very varied program, and that has contributed precisely to making known the different aspects of a multifaceted character such as Lluís Domènech i Montaner.
