On December 11, the former shop of Casa Navàs hosted the presentation of the book La Casa Navàs, written by journalist and author Raimon Portell. The event took place in a historically significant space, closely linked to the identity of the building and the city of Reus.
The book offers a comprehensive and well-documented insight into Casa Navàs, one of the finest examples of Catalan Modernisme. Raimon Portell places the building within the historical and social context of early 20th-century Reus, explaining the circumstances that led to its construction and highlighting the work of architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner. Architectural details, artistic elements and symbolic aspects are carefully explored throughout the book.
Beyond architecture, the book focuses on the human dimension of Casa Navàs. Portell brings together stories, memories and transformations associated with the building, showing how it has evolved alongside the city. This approach allows readers to understand heritage as a living reality rather than a static monument.
Holding the event in the former shop added a symbolic and intimate layer to the presentation. Once a commercial space, it now serves as a cultural venue that connects past and present.
La Casa Navàs invites readers to rediscover heritage as a shared story shaped by people, memory and time, reinforcing the cultural significance of one of Reus’ most iconic buildings.
Available at the Casa Navàs shop and in bookshops in Reus and across the region. A perfect cultural gift for the Christmas season
