Presentació del llibre Aspirina made in Reus de Joan Antoni Domènech a Casa Navàs, Reus

Casa Navàs hosted the presentation of Aspirina made in Reus. Industrials farmacèutics, a book by Joan Antoni Domènech. The publication explores a lesser-known chapter of Reus’s industrial history. Moreover, it highlights the entrepreneurs and pharmacists who contributed to the city’s economic development.

Held on 27 October, the event brought history, culture and heritage together at Casa Navàs.

Discovering Reus’s pharmaceutical past

Reus has a long commercial and industrial tradition. However, some chapters of its business history remain relatively unknown. One example is the development of its pharmaceutical industry.

Joan Antoni Domènech’s book explores the stories of sixteen entrepreneurs, thirteen of whom were pharmacists. Together, they contributed to the growth of this important industry.

Furthermore, the publication introduces initiatives associated with products such as Aspirin, Almendrina, Litines Serra and Blevit baby cereals.

Based on extensive research, the book includes historical documents, photographs, labels and advertising materials. As a result, readers can better understand the industrial activity that shaped an important period in Reus’s history.

A book preserving Reus’s business heritage

Aspirina made in Reus. Industrials farmacèutics belongs to the MaserGrup Business History Library. This initiative aims to preserve and share the region’s entrepreneurial heritage.

Specifically, the publication is the second volume in the collection. This time, it focuses on the people behind Reus’s pharmaceutical industry.

In this way, the book brings forgotten stories back into the spotlight. At the same time, it explains how entrepreneurship and innovation helped shape the city’s development.

The publication also offers a new perspective on local history. Therefore, it represents a valuable contribution to preserving the collective memory of Reus.

Casa Navàs, a living space for culture and heritage

Hosting this presentation strengthens Casa Navàs’s commitment to promoting culture and history. The building is one of the finest examples of Catalan Modernisme and an important landmark in Reus.

Furthermore, Casa Navàs reflects the commercial dynamism that characterised the city in the early twentieth century. For this reason, hosting initiatives about business history holds special significance.

These cultural events help connect the past with the present. They also create new opportunities to discover remarkable stories from the city’s history.

At Casa Navàs, we are delighted to support projects that preserve collective memory. We remain committed to celebrating the culture, history and architectural heritage of Reus.
