After being closed for three months due to the COVID-19, Casa Navàs has set a date for the public opening of its installations. It will be on Saturday the 11 of July. The modernists gem by Lluis Domènech i Montaner will reopen applying all the required health safety measures in order to carry out the visits with absolute security. Besides that, the recently rebuilt gable will be inaugurated the day before the guided visits start.
The upcoming Saturday 11th of July, Casa Navàs will reopen to the public. In order to adapt to the health measures that are required due to the COVID-19, there will be some changes to the daily operation of the house. The most relevant ones are the timetable changes and the reduction in the number of visitors during the guided tours. Visits continue being carried out from Monday to Sunday, mornings and evenings, in Catalan, Spanish, English and French and will last for 55 minutes. But now, instead of starting each hour “o’clock”, they will start every half hour, the first at 10am and the last one at 8pm. The house will be closed from 2pm to 4pm.
Before entering Casa Navàs, visitors’ temperatures will be taken, and they will also have to disinfect their hands with hydroalcoholic gel, wear masks, and protect their shoes with bootees. As usual at Casa Navàs, it is forbidden for visitors to touch anything during the tour. The groups will be made up of a maximum of 13 people in order to guarantee social distancing.
Entrance tickets with a discount
On the day of Sant Jordi (St. George’s Day), Casa Navàs started selling gift vouchers with reduced prices for the house entrance tickets, with an open-ended date and the merchandising related to it. The offer will remain in vigour through our website, www.casanavas.cat, until Sant Pere’s Day (St. Peter’s Day), Monday the 29th of June. From that date, the offer will no longer be operative and specifically organising the visit dates can begin.
Premium Visits
As we did last summer, on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8pm we will offer you the chance to take the “Premium Visit”, a visit that lasts an hour and a half and includes vermouth and wine tasting on the terrace. White and red “Secrets de Casa Navàs” by the Clos Galena winery will be served. There will also be vermouth, specifically “Vermut Miró Reserva” and “Vermut Miró Blanc”. All this along with snacks, background music and the magic that spreads throughout the terrace built over a hundred years ago by the famous architect, Lluís Domènech i Montaner.
New dates for those who already purchased tickets
As a result of the sudden closure due to the COVID-19, many visitors who, even though they had entrance tickets, could not enjoy the beaty of the Mercadal. Casa Navàs contacted all of them to offer a refund or change the visit to a future date, and most of them chose the second option. As of the 30th of June, the employees at Casa Navàs will contact these people again in order to find the best date for them to take the visit.
Those who have the « Vermouth Visits” and the “Modernist Nights” visits will be informed about the steps to be taken in order to enjoy these activities. Casa Navàs’s aim is that those who want to discover the work of Domènech have the chance to do so as comfortably as possible. If you have any doubts related to entrance ticket replacement/exchange, please send an e-mail to [email protected].
Inauguration of the gable
The reopening of Casa Navàs to the public will coincide with the inauguration of the gable. The reconstruction works started last February and will be finished at the end of June. This will be on Friday the 10th of July when it will be unveiled to the citizens for the first time. Due to the COVID-19, we will not be able to hold the inauguration in the Mercadal Square as originally planned, so the event will take place online.
The week after the inauguration, the Casa Navàs shop will open so that everyone can see the documentary that explains the reconstruction works in detail. Two talks related to crowning the façade and the bombardments that destroyed it in 1938 will also be organised.
All the information related to the acts involving the gable reconstruction will be provided in the near future.
