Reus, May 12th, 2021

Casa Navàs reopens to the public. It will be on next Thursday, May 20th. The reopening comes loaded with a good deal of news, because we add three new visits to the ones already consolidated: Dramatized Visits, Photographic Visits, and Casa Navàs Sunsets. There will also be a cycle of conferences on Art Nouveau, and we will launch Club Casa Navàs, a loyalty area meant for lovers of the beauty of Mercadal.

All this is presented after a year of continuous and forced temporary closings due to the health pandemic; during these months the house management has been intensively working to return stronger than ever. If the health alarm does not prevent it, Casa Navàs aims to not close again and to keep the house open from Monday to Sunday.

We would like to highlight the collaboration of Reus City Council, specifically the Reus Promoció Agency and Reus Cultura, in order to be able to develop the new visits this season. We also have the constant support of Vermuts Miró and Clos Galena.

Casa Navàs’ consolidated visits: Guided, Vermouth, Premium, and Art Nouveau Evenings

During the last year, a health pandemic has forced Casa Navàs to close to the public on more than one occasion, but next Thursday, May 20th it will reopen with many new activities and the already consolidated visits. As usual, the Guided Visits to this Art Nouveau gem unique in Europe will be available every day of the week. From May 20th to July 4th, there will be available three visits in the morning (11 h/ 12 h/ 13 h) and three in the afternoon (17 h/ 18 h/ 19 h). During the summer, this schedule will be extended up to 8 hours a day. The four languages of the visits (Catalan, Spanish, English, and French) and the small groups will be maintained. It is important to remember that all activities comply with the strictest Covid-19 protocol.

Vermouth Visits (guided visits which end with a Miró vermouth tasting) keep available every Saturday and Sunday at 12.00 and 13.00 until July 4th. The following week, Premium Visits will take over Vermouth Visits. They will take place every Tuesday and Thursday at 20 h, including a guided visit, a tasting of Clos Galena’s Secrets de Casa Navàs wines and Vermut Miró’s vermouths along with a snack at the terrace. There will also be the Art Nouveau Evenings, the most special event that takes place in Casa Navàs where, apart from discovering this Domènech i Montaner’s gem, you’ll also enjoy an Art Nouveau concert performed by Garbuix Duet, and a standing dinner. A new date for this activity is available for Friday, June 11th at 20.30 h.

Dramatized Visits

Dramatized Visits shows you Casa Navàs from a different perspective and let you discover new spots you cannot see during the Guided Visits. They are thought for the whole family to enjoy this Art Nouveau gem funnily and amusingly.

To do that, now we are in the early 40s. Once the Spanish Civil War is over, works to restore the damage caused by the bombs in 1938 begins at Casa Navàs. Pere Ferré is the restoration works foreman. He and Marcel Pons, the shop manager, will lead the craftsmen from the different workshops through the house, so they can learn what they have to do. But Pere and Marcel hide a secret… and during the visit, they will have to make their best to avoid it coming to light.

With the dramatized tour, the shop manager and the works’ foreman will take you into Casa Navàs. Producciones Lucky&Luke direct and performed this unique experience that will surely not leave anyone indifferent. At the moment, there available visits on Sundays, June 13th and 27th at 10 h and 10.30 h. The ticket price is €17.

Photographic Visits

One of the most demanded requests from our customers when visiting Casa Navàs is the possibility of photographing the whole interior of the house. Until now that was not possible because that is incompatible with the usual rhythm of the guided visits. That is why we launch this Photographic Visit for the photography enthusiasts, where they can capture every corner of this Art Nouveau gem by architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner.

The experience begins at the shop, where a photographer from Reus, Fabián Acidres, will provide the tips to capture the best pictures of the house. Then, you will enter inside Casa Navàs. To make the tour more enriching, while taking the pictures, Acidres will give you some historical hints of the house, and at the same time, he will explain some curiosities about all the old pictures you will find in Casa Navàs. The tour ends at the old textile shop where the visitors can share their pictures with the rest of the visitors while tasting a Miró vermouth.

Tickets are already available for a visit on Sunday, June 20th at 10 h. The visit has a duration of 2 hours and costs €33.

Casa Navàs’ Sunsets

After a tough year, we all want to have fun, and fun and frolic are synonymous with verbena. In this spirit, Casa Navàs’ Sunset, a guided visit of the main floor of the house that culminates with a concert and a dinner, is born.

The music of this summer sunset is on Sardina’s Golden Rule, a band from Camp de Tarragona founded in 2011, who will perform the best classics in the history of music to the rhythm of rock and roll, funky, disco… The perfect plan to forget this year of health emergency and enjoy a lot. Tickets are available for Friday, June 25th at 20 h and 21.15 h. This activity costs €33.

A cycle of conferences on Art Nouveau

Beyond the three new visits, Casa Navàs launches the 1st Cycle of Conferences «Casa Navàs, Art Nouveau testimonials». An annual event that aims to reflect on heritage, Art Nouveau and society in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. For this purpose, the best specialists in each of the topics presented will be sought.
